1. Background
Area Boards have authority to approve Area Grants under powers delegated to them. Under the Scheme of Delegation Area Boards must adhere to the Area Board Grants Guidance

The funding criteria and application forms are available on the council’s website.

2. Main Considerations
2.1. Councillors will need to be satisfied that funding awarded in the 2018/2019 year is made to projects that can realistically proceed within a year of it being awarded.

2.2. Councillors must ensure that the distribution of funding is in accordance with the Scheme of Delegation to Area Boards.

2.3. Councillors will need to be satisfied that the applications meet the Community Area Board grants criteria.

3. Environmental & Community Implications
Grant Funding will contribute to the continuance and/or improvement of cultural, social and community activity and wellbeing in the community area, the extent of which will be dependent upon the individual project.

4. Financial Implications
Financial provision had been made to cover this expenditure.

7. Equality and Inclusion Implications
Community Area Boards must fully consider the equality impacts of their decisions in order to meet the Council’s Public Sector Equality Duty.

Community Area Grants will give local community and voluntary groups, Town and Parish Council’s equal opportunity to receive funding towards community based projects and schemes, where they meet the funding criteria.

The Brunel Shed

Conversion from Office to Refreshment First Aid Area

Project Description:
To convert an office space into a refreshment area giving a separate space outside the workshop for tea-breaks and conversation. To also provide a space for a rest bed for medical emergencies and provide a full first-aid resourceWork consists of removing a short stud-wall and re-building the opening re-locating electrical points and switches moving radiators and building a bench seatAll the re-furbished work except the electrics will be completed by shed members
 
Input from Community Engagement Manager:
The Brunel shed have revived and hugely improved the hall and the improvements proposed will further do so.

 

This application meets the grants criteria and can be considered for approval

 

It is also recommended that if an award is made, that this is conditional upon the club signing up to the Wiltshire wide Centre for Independent Living initiative #MakeSomeoneWelcome and the related Carers Support project running in the Corsham area and promoted at this meeting

Corsham Bowls Club

Renovation of Bowls Green

Project Description:
Despite the efforts of our own Greens Team the Bowls Green is in need of major renovation. The Club has had to endure some serious criticism from visiting Bowls Clubs i.e. this is the worst green we have ever played on and it is not fit for purpose. If these complaints are made formal Corsham Bowls Club may be asked to leave the respective Bowls Leagues we currently play in  and lose a facility for Corsham and the surrounding Communities.
